On Saturday 19th January, the U13s and U17s were in action at the Junior Inter-area competition. Cambridgeshire had two U17 teams playing (the B team consisting mostly of U15s).

The A team’s first match was against Norfolk, after going ahead 4-1, the score levelled at 4-4 before Safi made the winning goal.

Next up North London, this was a close match, trading goals till 4-4 before Cambridgeshire pulled ahead to 7-4, before finally willing 7-6.

Next up A v B and goodness me it was close! The A team were ahead 6-3, but the B team fought back to 8-8, then 9-9 before Flora got the winning
goal, 10-9 to the A team.

Next up London, finally an easy match 13-4.

Last up Kent, the gold/silver medal decider. This was a great match, a really
high standard of korfball and everyone played well. Cambridgeshire were in the lead at 4-2, before a 3 goal run from Kent made it 4-5 to them, a
penalty to Cambridgeshire and it was 5-5, but then Kent found some more
goals and they won 5-8, if only the match had been 5 mins shorter!

But a great day and huge well done to the City reps: Meadow (1), Anna (4), Flora (4), Dawson (4), Safi (4), Saif (1), Seby.

The U13s had a tough day. With just 5 teams: Cambridgeshire, London A,
London B, Norfolk and Kent, the format was to play each team twice. In the
morning there were losses to London A, Kent and Norfolk, but a good 2-2
draw against London B, and I believe the afternoon went similarly. In the
matches I saw our one City rep, Boaz, did a great job, particularly in
defense with his perfect positioning and stance.
