Juniors at CCKC

Korfball is a fun, mixed sport, that offers children and young adults from the ages 7-14 (KS2 and KS3) the chance to experience a team sport, exercise and have fun! There are also skills awards to achieve for those keen players. Our club caters for players of all abilities. We currently have players in the Under 9, Under 11 and Under 14 age groups. Our U9 and U11 players take part in regular local tournaments and our U14s play in the National League (Champions in 2014, runners-up in 2015). We train hard and play hard! Korfball is played by adults, children, families, couples; as elite-level international competition or as a recreational past-time. Juniors and families are welcomed with open arms.

Juniors training

We start with a warm-up and end with a game each week. During the session, we concentrate on improving fundamental skills, such as catching and passing, and work on fitness levels through fun exercises. Then we work on korfball skills, such as shooting, team work, attacking and defending. There are always helpers on hand to give help with understanding the drills and exercise plus answer any questions you have. Juniors train on Sundays during term time from 4-6pm at Hills Road Sports and Tennis Centre, Purbeck Road, Cambridge, CB2 8PF. If anyone in your family is under 7, City also runs a multi-sport programme for children aged 3-7 (pre-school to Year 2). Training fees are £40 for the term, £35 for the second child. You can try before you buy by attending one session before you commit to a term, so come along and have a go! If you would like to try the sport, or for further information, please contact Sue Jackson

Youth players at seniors

Youths aged over 13 also have the opportunity to train with the seniors from 8-9pm at Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre to further their korfball development and aid their transition to the senior club. All juniors are supported by the club to take their sport to the level they would like, whether recreational or to international level. For further information, please contact Sue Jackson

Cambridge city juniors key players in Cambridgeshire success in 2017/18

Alf Timney on being selected for the England squad for the U17 World Cup. Well done to the England U17s including City’s Alf Timney.
Bronze medal at the World Cup (in June 2017) in Eindhoven! Alf was also part of the Cambridgeshire Senior squad who made the semi-finals of this year’s Inter-area tournament, beating West Midlands, Wales and East Midlands along the way. Losing to London in the semi finals. Final placing 4th out of 13 areas.

Well done to the City SERL team players who made it into the top 10 scorers list at the end of the season! The team finished the season as the highest placed 1st team. Congratulations. Alf Timney, Alex Carmichael and Flora Timney were our juniors playing in this team.

Congratulations to the England U15’s who played at the European Korfball 4 Championships in Drachten, NL. A strong Cambridge presence in the squad included City’s Anna, Flora and England U15 coach Carla. A fantastic 3rd place for both teams in their competitions! Well done also to Emma Ede who was selected to train with the squad

Congratulations to City juniors, Lilian, Reuben & River, playing for their school at the Copperbox, Olympic Stadium, London, this May having won the schools tournament.

Cambridge City @ National Youth Day 2017, Norwich

Fantastic turn out from Cambridge City at National Youth Day!
We had sun, sun and more sun, but thankfully sun cream, snacks and a small village worth of gazebos (not sure what the collective noun actually is…) thanks to the incredible crew of super supportive parents!
U15/17s came 2nd
U13s came 3rd
U11s came 3rd
U9s played superhumanly and kept smiling!
